The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced a one percent exemption on stamp duty if a property is registered in a woman’s name. Previously, this exemption was applicable only for properties worth up to 10 lakh, which meant a maximum benefit of 10,000. However, the limit has now been extended to properties worth up to 1 crore, allowing buyers to avail a maximum exemption of 1 lakh on stamp duty, provided the owner is a woman.

This move by the UP Government aims to boost women’s ownership of property and enhance their financial independence. The government anticipates a significant increase in property ownership by women as a result of this policy change.

From now on, if you are purchasing property worth up to 1 crore, you can avail a one percent discount, amounting to 1 lakh, on the stamp duty if the property is registered in a woman’s name.
